SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Lewis University's men's and women's track and field teams recorded 30 top eight finishes and three provisional marks in its meet at the Notre Dame Invitational at the Loftus Center in South Bend, Ind.
On the women's side,
Natasha Bernett (McAlpin, Ill./Lane Tech) won the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.78 seconds and picked up a provisional qualifying mark in the event.
Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) won the pole vault clearing a height of 3.45 meters (11'3.75").
Malen De La Fuente (Irun, Spain/Universal School)s was second in the pole vault clearing the par at 3.30 meters (10'10").
Alecea Cardillo (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) was second in the triple jump hitting a provisional mark of 11.87 meters (38'11.5") and finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.59 meters (18'4.25").
Jada Hoffman (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood Academy) finished third in the 60 meters with a time of 7.68 seconds and was just 0.01 seconds of a provisional mark. She finished fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 25.10 seconds.
Nadia Roberts (Burbank, Ill./Burbank (Reavis)) took third in the high jump clearing the bar at 1.60 meters (5'3").
Jaden Christian (Braidwood, Ill./Braidwood (Reed-Custer)),
Anna Laudizio (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) and
Tori Hagg (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah Community HS) were fourth, fifth and eighth in the triple jump. Christian's best jump came in her final attempt hitting 11.65 meters (38'2.75"), Laudizio leapt 11.53 meters (37'10") and Hagg's best jump was her second at 11.08 meters (36'4.25").
Ratkoslava Karac (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) was fourth in the shot put at 13.05 meters (42'9.75") and took eighth in the weight throw with a heave of 12.10 meters (39'8.5").
Kylie Wymer (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) was fifth in both the shot and weight throw. Her best throw in the shot came in her fourth attempt at 12.78 meters (41'11.25") and recorded a mark of 14.70 meters (48'2.75") in the weight throw.
The Flyer men had three first place finishes with
Dustin Macuiba (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) winning the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:23.74 while
Justin Rivers (Bolingbrook, IL/) won the high jump clearing a height of 2.01 meters (6'7") and
Keegan Zack (Watseka, Ill./Watseka Community) won the triple jump hitting a provisional mark of 14.61 meters (47'11.25"). Zack was also second in the long jump with a leap of 6.56 meters (21'6.25").
Lewis 4x400 meter relay team of
Connor Wagner (Elgin, Ill./Burlington Central),
Rackesh Ragoo (Merrillville, Ind./Merrillville),
Will DeBolt (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) and
Reese Kocanda (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) took third with a time of 3:22.95.
Angelo Vassilakis finished fourth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.03 seconds and was fifth in the 200 meters posting a time of 22.44 seconds.
Dillon Pottschmidt and
AJ Smith (Floyds Knobs, Ind./Silver Creek) finished fifth and sixth in the 800 meters with times of 1:56.69 and 1:59.45 respectively.
Gyasi Boisson (Trinidad and Tobago/) was fifth in both the shot put and weight throw. He threw the shot 14.46 meters (47'5.25") and heaved the weight 14.82 meters (48'7.5").
Wagner and
Austin Rockaitis (Tinley Park, IL/Lincoln-Way East HS) were sixth and eighth in the 60 meter hurdles as Wagner finished with a time of 8.61 seconds and Rockaitis clocked in at 10.41 seconds.
Zyaire Shermon (/) took seventh in the shot put with a mark of 12.85 meters (42'2").
Anthony Pena (East Moline, Ill./Pleasant Valley (Iowa)) finished eighth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:33.31.
The Flyers are back in action next Friday and Saturday as they travel to Mankato, Minn., for the Mark Schuck Open hosted by Minnesota State. The meet begins on Friday (Jan. 28) at 3 p.m. and continues on Saturday (Jan. 29) starting at 9 a.m.
