ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The College Sports Communicators have announced their 2022 Academic All-District Men's Soccer team with five members of Lewis men's soccer being named. In order to qualify for this award, you must have a 3.5+ GPA and play in over half of the matches your team participated in this year. This award combines performances on the field and in the classroom.
These five advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-teams will be announced in December.
Matthew Beaulieu (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North),
Charles Carlback (Karlskrona, Sweden/FK Karlskrona),
Sebastian Doppelhofer (Liebmannweg, Austria/Kapfenburg),
Arturs Gorodnickis (Riga, Latvia/Riga) and
Jose Mendoza (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) have all been named All-District.
Beaulieu, computer science major, played in 18 games for Lewis this season while starting in six. The senior was also named the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award nominee for Lewis.
Carlback, a sports management major, played and started in 18 matches for the Flyers this season while receiving All-GLVC Second Team Honors. The sophomore recorded two goals this season as a defender.
Doppelhofer, a sports management major, saw action in 16 matches, starting in all of them and was awarded GLVC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, All-GLVC Second Team. The sophomore goalkeeper only allowed 12 goals, recorded 55 saves and 0.75 goals against average.
Gorodnickis, a finance major, played in 18 games with 17 starts for Lewis in 2022 and was named All-GLVC Second Team. The sophomore scored two goals and assisted on two as well.
Mendoza, a psychology major, saw action in 13 matches with two starts during the season for the Flyers.
