NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's track and field team won nine of 14 events and took the team title at the Lee Slick Invitational in its final tune up before next weekend's GLVC Indoor Championships on Friday evening at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
Natasha Bernett (McAlpin, Ill./Lane Tech) set a new school record in the 60 meters hurdles winning the race in a time of 8.56 seconds which was nearly a tenth of a second faster than the previous mark held by Megan Marchildon. Bernett also improved her provisional mark in the event.
Allison Mack (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park HS) finished fourth in the event with a personal best time of 9.03 seconds.
The Flyers finished first, third and sixth in the 60 meters with
Jada Hoffman (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood Academy) winning the race in a time of 7.59 seconds while
Rose-Marie Ogbuli (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield East) came in at 7.83 seconds and
Faith Wyman (Trenton, Ill./Trenton (Wesclin)) had a time of 7.95 seconds.
Ogbuli took the top spot in the 200 meters with a time of 25.74 seconds and was joined in the top 10 by
Kyla Chalmers (Elk Grove Village, Ill./James B. Conant) who finished fourth at 26.27 seconds, Wyman was fifth in a time of 26.46 seconds,
Essence Winters (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) came in sixth at 26.68 seconds,
Alexandra Martinez (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfeild Central) was eighth at 26.80 seconds,
Tiana Dockery (Chicago, Ill./King) finished ninth at 27.08 seconds and
Vivica Phillips (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South HS) was 10th in a time of 27.13 seconds.
Kassady Learn (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) and
Arianna Amill-Ramos (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) finished first and second in the mile with Learn posting the winning time of 5:01.90 and Amill-Ramos finished at 5:11.68.
Lewis had seven of the top 10 finishers in the 3000 meters with
Caroline Pacer (Wheaton, Ill./West Chicago) winning the race in a time of 10:22.82.
Stephanie Jarvis (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville) and
Taylor Renkes (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) were second and third at 10:25.08 and 10:51, Naylan Allen came in sixth at 11:03.93,
Chloe Wannamaker (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission South HS) was seventh at 11:05.08,
Vanessa Peinado (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) was eighth at 11:07.85 and
Sophia Wilks (Freeport, Ill./Freeport) came in ninth at 11:08.37.
Nadia Roberts (Burbank, Ill./Burbank (Reavis)) won the high jump hitting a provisional mark of 1.67 meters (5'5.75").
The Flyers finished first through fifth in the long jump with
Alecea Cardillo (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) posting the mark of 5.56 meters (18'3").
Jaden Christian (Braidwood, Ill./Braidwood (Reed-Custer)) was second with a leap of 5.55 meters (18'2.5"),
Jena Martin (Smithville, Mo./Smithville) finished third with a jump of 5.52 meters (18'1.5"), Bernett was fourth at 5.50 meters (18'0.5") and
Kamryn Kolb (Wyanet, Ill./Bureau Valley HS) took fifth at 5.46 meters (17'11").
Cardillo added the title in the triple jump as well with a leap of 12.49 meters (40'11.75") which is a personal best for her, second best in school history and improved her provisional mark by nearly 0.3 meters. Christian also picked up a provisional mark in the event at 11.93 meters (39'1.75"),
Anna Laudizio (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) was fourth at 11.36 meters (37'3.25"),
Tori Hagg (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah Community HS) finished fifth hitting a mark of 11.28 meters (37'0.25") and Martin was sixth at 10.92 meters (35'10").
Ratkoslava Karac (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) and
Kylie Wymer (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) finished first and second in the shot put at 13.02 meters (42'8.75") and 12.79 meters (41'11.5") respectively.
Aliza Van Den Elzen (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville) was seventh with a heave of 10.74 meters (35'3"). Wymer took second in the weight throw with a toss of 15.79 meters (51'9.75") and Karac finished fifth at 13.83 meters (45'4.5").
Lewis finished second, third and fourth in the 800 meters with
Anna Kozak (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) taking up the runner up spot in a time of 2:20.82 while
Jade Miller (Dixon, Ill./Dixon HS) finished at 2:27.48 and
Kristen Ess (Aviston, Ill./Central Community HS) finished at 2:28.15.
Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) was second in the pole vault clearing the bar at a height of 3.61 meters (11'10") while
Katelyn Gall (Channahon, Ill./Minooka) took sixth at a height of 3.16 meters (10'4.25").
Winters finished fifth in the 400 meters in a time of 1:01.93 and the Flyer 4x400 meter relay team of Kozak, Miller, Ess and
Dayanna Sanchez (Berwyn, Ill./Morton) were fourth in a time of 4:20.90 seconds.
Lewis returns to the track next Saturday for the start of the GLVC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Ind.
