BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Lewis University's men's and women's track field teams won two events and had 36 top 10 finishes on Saturday at Olivet Nazarene's Walter Cramer Invitational in Bourbonnais, Ill. The Flyer women had 23 top 10 finishes while the men had 13 top 10 finishes.
Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) finished in a tie for first with North Central's Kathy Myrda in the pole vault as both cleared the bar at 3.62 meters (11'10.5").
Katelyn Gall (Channahon, Ill./Minooka) finished sixth in the event clearing a height of 2.97 meters (9'9").
Kylie Wymer (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) and
Ratkoslava Karac (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) finished second and third respectively in the shot put with Wymer's best heave coming 12.86 meters (42'2.25") while Karac's best was 12.24 meters (40'2"). Wymer also finished fourth in the weight throw at 15.42 meters (50'7.25").
The Flyers had four of the top nine finishers in the long jump with
Natasha Bernett (McAlpin, Ill./Lane Tech) taking second with a jump of 5.48 meters (17'11.75") while
Kamryn Kolb (Wyanet, Ill./Bureau Valley HS) was third at 5.34 meters (17'6.25"),
Anna Laudizio (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) finished sixth at 5.15 meters (16'10.75") and
Tori Hagg (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah Community HS) came in ninth at 4.89 meters (16'0.5").
Faith Wyman (Trenton, Ill./Trenton (Wesclin)) finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 26.29 seconds while
Essence Winters (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) and
Alexandra Martinez (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfeild Central) were seventh and eighth at 27.07 and 27.29 seconds respectively. Wyman was also eighth in the 60 meters at 8.04 seconds.
Allison Mack (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park HS) was third in the 60 hurdles at 9.31 seconds while
Kristen Ess (Aviston, Ill./Central Community HS) took sixth in the 600 meters at 1:48.68.
Nadia Robers and
Aliza Van Den Elzen (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville) finished in a tie for fifth in the high jump as both cleared the bar at 1.50 meters (4'11").
Lewis dominated the 3,000 meters with six finishers in the top nine led by
Kassady Learn (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) who crossed the line at 9:57.87 to finish second.
Anna Kozak (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) came in third at 10:12.66,
Arianna Amill-Ramos (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) was fourth in a time of 10:19.95,
Caroline Pacer (Wheaton, Ill./West Chicago) took sixth at 10:30.94,
Stephanie Jarvis (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville) finished seventh in a time of 10:34.08 and
Taylor Renkes (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) was ninth at 10:50.01.
On the men's side,
Jacoby Jones (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville) won the 600 meters in a time of 1:24.12 while
Gyasi Boisson (Trinidad and Tobago/) was second in both the shot put and weight throws. He heaved the shot a distance of 14.28 meters (46'10.25") and his toss in the weight throw was 14.34 meters (43'5.25").
Zyaire Shermon (/) took sixth in the weight throw with a throw of 13.24 meters (43'5.25").
Kevin Cousins (Mishawaka, IN/Saint Joseph HS) finished second in the pole vault clearing the bar at 4.20 meters (13'9.25"),
Zach Fresenko (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville) took fifth in the mile at 4:28.11 and
Austin Rockaitis (Tinley Park, IL/Lincoln-Way East HS) was seventh in the 400 meters at 54.08 seconds.
The Flyers had six of the top eight finishers in the 3,000 meters with
Dustin Macuiba (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) leading the way with a second place finish at 8:30.28.
Anthony Pena (East Moline, Ill./Pleasant Valley (Iowa)), Garrett White and
Anthony Farmer (Elgin, Ill./Burlington Central) were third, fourth and fifth at 8:33.48, 8:34.68 and 8:34.71 respectively.
Daniel Arimi (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) had a seventh place finish at 8:43.94 and
Charlie Wirth (Greenville, WI/Hortonville HS) took eighth in a time of 8:45.05.
Lewis is back in action on Friday (Feb. 11) as it travels to Allendale, Mich., to compete in Grand Valley's Big Meet starting at 9 a.m. (CST).
