ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Former Lewis men's soccer player Devon Amoo-Mensah recently signed with Detroit City FC of the United Soccer League (USL).
He joins Le Rouge after spending two seasons with the Michigan Stars of the National Independent Soccer Association. Amoo-Mensah started all 35 games in his two seasons with the Stars. He notched two goals from his defender's position this past fall and earned first-team all-league honors. Amoo-Mensah began his professional playing career with Swedish Division 2 club Älmeboda/Linneryd via Chicago-based Bridges FC and Sockers FC.
The Naperville, Illinois, native played five seasons at Lewis appearing in 73 contests with 64 starts while scoring eight goals and adding four assists for a total of 20 points in his career. He scored single-season bests in goals with four and points with eight during his senior and added a game-winning goal.
Amoo-Mensah was a two-time second team All-GLVC selection in 2017 and 2018 for the Flyers. He was also a five-time recipient of the Br. David Delahanty award which is given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence, was named to the Academic All-GLVC team five times and received the Division 2 ADA Academic Achievement award four times.
