ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's track and field team won four events and had five other top 10 finishes at the Cal State Los Angeles Twilight Meet in Los Angeles on Thursday.
Nadia Roberts (Burbank, Ill./Burbank (Reavis)) won the high jump as she cleared the bar at a height of 1.68 meters (5'3") which is tied for 10th best in school history and was also good enough for a provisional qualifying mark for nationals.
Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) won the pole vault clearing the bar at a height of 3.55 meters (11'7.75") which is second best in school history and also a personal best topping her previous mark of 11.5.75".
The Flyers had three finish in the top six of the long jump led by
Natasha Bernett (McAlpin, Ill./Lane Tech) with a leap of 5.81 meters (19'0.75") and missed a provisional qualifying mark by 0.01 meters.
Jaden Christian (Braidwood, Ill./Braidwood (Reed-Custer)) finished fifth with a jump of 5.57 meters (18'3.25") while
Alecea Cardillo (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) was sixth with a leap of 5.55 meters (18'2.5").
Christian took the top spot in the triple jump with a jump of 11.67 meters (38'3.5").
Rose-Marie Ogbuli (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield East) was the runner-up in the 100 meters and finished third in the 200 meters. Her time of 11.98 seconds tied her personal best and is the eighth fastest in school history. Her time of 24.61 seconds in the 200 was a personal best for her and the ninth fastest in school history.
Ratkoslava Karac (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) was the runner-up in the shot put with a heave of 12.93 meters (42'5.25").
Kassady Learn (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) finished 10th in the 10,000 meter run on Wednesday at Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational with a personal best time of 35:12.77. She shattered her previous mark by nearly a minute and picked up a provisional qualifying mark in the event. Learn's time is fifth fastest in school history.
Aliza Van Den Elzen (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville) competed in Group B of the heptathlon scoring 4,513 points in the event to finish 20th in a field of Division I athletes. Her point total is good for sixth best in school history.
Arianna Amill-Ramos (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) competed in the steeplechase on Thursday evening at the Mt. Sac Relays. She finished with a personal best time of 10:45.32 which was nearly 30 seconds faster than her previous best, is the second fastest in school history and she also picked up a provisional qualifying mark in the event.
Lewis is back in action on Friday at the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif.
