ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's track and field team finished in a tie for fourth with 91 points at the Lake Stride Joey Haines Invite at Southeast Missouri State on Friday and Saturday in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Flyers won three events and had 20 top 10 finishes over the two-day meet.
Natasha Bernett (McAlpin, Ill./Lane Tech) won both the 100 and 400 meter hurdles. She won the 100 hurdles in a time of 14.21 seconds and the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:02.58.
Allison Mack (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park HS) finished eighth in the 100 hurdles in a time of 15.58 seconds and was fifth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:08.71.
Essence Winters (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) also finished eighth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:26.60.
Alecea Cardillo (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) and
Jaden Christian (Braidwood, Ill./Braidwood (Reed-Custer)) finished first and second while
Anna Laudizio (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) was sixth in the triple jump. Cardillo won the event with a leap of 12.33 meters (40'5.5"), Christian's best jump was 12.03 meters (39'5.75") and Laudizio's best leap was 11.71 meters (38'5").
Christian took fourth in the long jump with a jump of 5.67 meters (18'7.25") and Cardillo finished eighth with a leap of 5.50 meters (18'0.5").
Jada Hoffman (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood Academy) was the runner up in the 100 meters with a time of 11.86 seconds.
Kyla Chalmers (Elk Grove Village, Ill./James B. Conant) and
Vivica Phillips (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South HS) were fourth and ninth in the 400 meters with times of 58.97 and 59.78 seconds respectively.
Lewis' 4x100 meter relay team of Hoffman,
Rose-Marie Ogbuli (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield East),
Faith Wyman (Trenton, Ill./Trenton (Wesclin)) and Bernett finished fourth with a time of 47.29 seconds.
Nadia Roberts (Burbank, Ill./Burbank (Reavis)) finished fifth in the high jump clearing the bar at a height of 1.65 meters (5'5") while
Aliza Van Den Elzen (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville) finished in a tie for 10th at 1.55 meters (5'1").
Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) was fourth in the pole vault clearing the bar at 3.45 meters (11'3.75") and
Katelyn Gall (Channahon, Ill./Minooka) was eighth at 3.15 meters (10'4").
Ratkoslava Karac (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) was ninth in the shot put with a heave of 13.05 meters (42'9.75").
Van Den Elzen took sixth in the javelin with a toss of 40.14 meters (131'8").
The Flyers return to the track next Friday and Saturday as they compete the Pacesetter Invite hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind.
