ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's track and field team finished third at Indiana State's Pacesetter Invite on Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind. The Flyers won four events and had 22 top 10 finishes at the meet.
Rose-Marie Ogbuil won the 100 meters in a time of 12.05 seconds.
Kyla Chalmers (Elk Grove Village, Ill./James B. Conant) and
Vivica Phillips (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South HS) finished first and third in the 400 meters with times of 58.39 and 59.92 seconds respectively. Chalmers was fourth in the 200 meters at 25.90 seconds while Phillips and
Tiana Dockery (Chicago, Ill./King) were ninth and 10th at 27.06 and 27.09 seconds respectively.
Natasha Bernett (McAlpin, Ill./Lane Tech) was the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.01 seconds and
Allison Mack (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park HS) finished 10th at 15.10 seconds. Mack came back later in the day and finished sixth in the 400 meter-hurdles with a time of 1:08.60 and
Essence Winters (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) was eighth at 1:13.94.
Jade Miller (Dixon, Ill./Dixon HS) and
Megan Mitchell (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Twp HS) were third and sixth in the steeplechase with Miller finishing at 11:45.34 while Mitchell crossed the line at 12:24.30.
Lewis' 4x100 meter relay team of
Jada Hoffman (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood Academy), Ogbuli, Bernett and
Alexandra Martinez (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfeild Central) won the race with a time of 48.18 seconds.
Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) took fourth in the pole vault clearing the bar at 3.38 meters (11'1").
Jena Martin (Smithville, Mo./Smithville) was seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.15 meters (16'10.75").
Anna Laudizio (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) won the triple jump with a jump of 11.44 meters (37'6.5") while Martin took sixth at 10.69 meters (35'1") and
Tori Hagg (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah Community HS) came in seventh at 10.55 meters (34'7.5").
Ratkoslava Karac (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) and
Kylie Wymer (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) were sixth and seventh in the shot put with Karac's best attempt being 12.98 meters (42'7") while Wymer's best effort as 12.87 meters (42'2.75"). Karac and Wymer also finished seventh and eighth in the discus with tosses of 37.38 meters (122'8") and 36.98 meters (121'4") respectively.
The Flyers are back in next week as they head to California for four meets over Easter Weekend. They'll take part in the Cal State Los Angeles Twilight Meet, the Mt. Sac Relays, the Azusa Pacific Invite and the Long Beach State Invite.
