Van Den Elzen Breaks School Record In Javelin At St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's track and field team won six events and had 25 top eight finishes over the past three days at both the Carius/Gregory Invite and the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite. Aliza Van Den Elzen (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville) broke her own school record in the javelin at St. Francis on Saturday.

100 meters – 1. Jada Hoffman (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood Academy) 11.91 seconds.
100-meter hurdles – 1. Natasha Bernett (McAlpin, Ill./Lane Tech) 13.87 seconds, season best and improves her provisional mark.
4x100 meter relay – 1. Lewis (Hoffman, Rose-Marie Ogbuli (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield East), Bernett, Alexandra Martinez (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfeild Central)) 46.69 seconds, season best and improves provisional mark.
Long Jump – 2. Bernett 5.79 meters (19'0"); 3. Jaden Christian (Braidwood, Ill./Braidwood (Reed-Custer)) 5.74 meters (18'10"); 6. Kamryn Kolb (Wyanet, Ill./Bureau Valley HS) 5.58 meters (18'3.75").

Shot Put – 5. Ratkoslava Karac (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) 13.01 meters (42'8.25").

The Flyers will find out next week how many people they'll send to the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships which will be held May 26-28 at Grand Valley State.
