INDIANAPOLIS --
The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced Thursday (Nov. 9) its men's soccer Awards and All-Conference Teams, with Lewis placing five players on All-GLVC squads and
Joram Bogers (Tilburg, Netherlands/Mill-Hill College) earning GLVC Offensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-GLVC honor.
Godwin Asore (Kumasi, Ghana/Putnam Science Academy) and
Arturs Gorodnickis (Riga, Latvia/Riga) were named Second Team All-GLVC, while
Charles Carlback (Karlskrona, Sweden/FK Karlskrona) and
Sebastian Doppelhofer (Liebmannweg, Austria/Kapfenberg) earned spots on the Third Team.
Justin Darlage (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) was Lewis' James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award Honoree.
Bogers led the GLVC with eight goals (.500/game), and had all of his 18 points (8G, 2A) in conference play, the most of any player in the conference. He also led the league in shots (56) and shots on goal (29). His two game-winning goals were tied for sixth-most in the GLVC. The junior from the Netherlands earned his first All-GLVC honor this season and is the Flyers' first Offensive Player of the Year since Chris Doran won GLVC Player of the Year in 1998.
Asore finished with second-team honors for Lewis after tying for seventh in the conference in goals with 5 (.294/game). His 7 assists led all Flyers and was tied for third in the GLVC, while his 17 total points ranked fourth in the league. The junior from Ghana earned the first All-GLVC honor of his career.
Gorodnickis repeated as a Second Team All-GLVC honoree after scoring four goals (.235/game) and three assists. The junior from Latvia recorded two game-winning goals, which were tied for sixth-most in the conference.
Carlback was a key player on the Flyers' back line, finishing second on the team in minutes behind Darlage while holding opponents to 0.71 goals per match. The junior from Sweden scored his only goal of the season as a game-winner in the closing minutes against Missouri S&T, and had one assist on the year as well. It was the second consecutive All-GLVC honor for Carlback, who was named to the second team in 2022.
Doppelhofer was once again among the top goaltenders in the GLVC, ranking fourth in goals against average (.609), third in save percentage (.825) and third in shutouts (8). It marks the third All-GLVC honor in as many seasons for the junior from Austria, after being GLVC Freshman of the Year and First Team in 2021 and co-Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-GLVC in 2022.
Darlage started all 17 games for the Flyers and led the team in minutes with 1516. The senior from New Lenox, Illinois scored two goals and earned one assist on the season.
Lewis will travel to East Peoria, Illinois for the GLVC Tournament Semifinals Friday, November 10 as the Flyers take on No. 3 seed Indianapolis starting at 5 p.m.
