AUSTIN, Texas -- Two
Lewis men's soccer student-athletes were named to the 2024 Academic All-America® Division II Men's Soccer Teams, as selected by the College Sports Communicators, on Tuesday (Dec. 10).
Arturs Gorodnickis (Riga, Latvia/Riga) was named to the first team for the first time in his career and third overall while
Sebastian Doppelhofer (Liebmannweg, Austria/Kapfenberg) was awarded third team honors and receiving the award for the second straight season.
Gorodnickis holds a 3.86 GPA in Finance, earned a first First-Team nomination for the first time in his career and third overall nomination during his tenure and is set to graduate in December with his bachelor's degree in Finance.
The Riga, Lativa native wrapped up his tenure with the Flyers after playing in 80 matches with 76 starts while scoring 19 goals and eight assists. Gorodnickis is also a three-time All-GLVC Recipient after making second team his sophomore season, third team during junior year and first team this past campaign.
Doppelhofer will also graduate this December with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management and currently owns a 3.89 Grade Point Average. This is the goalkeeper's second honor in his career after receiving the honor last season.
The Liebmannweg, Austria native finished off his Lewis career by playing and starting in 82 contests in goal, allowing a 0.77 goals against average, .800 save percentage and 252 total saves. The goalkeeper was a four-time All-GLVC member and three-time Brother David Delahanty Award Recipient.
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America® program.
