Flyers Hold off Lincoln for 2-1 Win

Romeoville, Ill. – Friday evening at Lewis Stadium, the Lewis Flyers defeated Lincoln (Mo.) 2-1 in GLVC action.

With the result, Lewis improves to 6-1-5 (5-1-3 GLVC), while Lincoln falls to 0-7-4 (0-7-3 GLVC).

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Flyers struck early in the first half when Timea Rojnik (Bratislava, Slovakia/British Internnational) found the back of the net in the 14th minute, finishing a pass from Breanna Culver (Roscoe, Ill./Wisconsin-Milwaukee) into the upper right corner to give Lewis a 1-0 lead.

Just ten minutes later, Lewis doubled its advantage as Jada Harvey (Roscoe, Ill./Rockford Christian) scored in the 24th minute off an assist from Cosa Bella Milazzo (Orland Park, Ill./Victor J. Andrew), making it 2-0 Flyers.

Lincoln responded early in the second half with a goal from Ivanna Faria in the 49th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1, but Lewis' back line held firm the rest of the way to preserve the victory.

Statistically, Lewis dominated the match, out shooting Lincoln 19-2 overall and 10-2 in shots on goal. The Flyers made their chances count, converting both of their shots into goals. In net, Caitlin Yurkovich (Bartlet, Ill./College of Dupage) had one save to secure the win, while Lincoln's goalkeeper finished with eight saves.

  • Harvey scored her third goal of the season.

  • Lewis is now 2-0 against Lincoln

  • The Flyers secured their fifth victory of the season, their most wins since 2023
