Kenosha, Wis. - The Lewis University men's cross country team finished third overall to punch their ticket to NCAA Nationals as a team while
Evan Horgan (Loves Park, Ill./Belvidere North) placed second overall individually to highlight the Flyers efforts at the event.
Grand Valley State of the GLIAC won the Midwest Regional with a final score of 44 points while Saginaw Valley State ended in second with 52 points. The Flyers rounded out the top three with 120 points. Ramon Rodriguez finished in first place with a final time of 30:17.27 to take home the individual title, just four second ahead of Horgan who ended the regional with final time of 30:21.77.
Along with Horgan's second place finish,
Jack Roberts (Frankfort, Ill./Lincolnway East) placed 20th (31:25.37) to collect All-Region honors aside Horgan.
Zack Dunn (Merrilville, Ind./Merrilville) helped the Lewis effort for a top three team finish as he placed 27th (31:31.40) with
Gabriel Cates (Purcellville, Vir./Loudoun Valley) behind in 31st (31:41.03).
Brendon Shea (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) turned in a final time of 31:55.82 en route to a 40th place finish to round out the Flyers scoring runners at the meet.
Owen Thomas (Valparaiso, IN/Morgan Township) (32:21.53) and
Nick Paugys (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) (32:51.26) also competed for Lewis at the Midwest Regional and helped displace other schools racing.
