ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — Lewis University Cross Country had an outstanding showing in the classroom during the 2025 season, as eight Flyers earned U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic honors. Both the men's and women's teams were also recognized as All-Academic teams, highlighting the program's commitment to excellence on the course and in the classroom.
The women's team was represented by Madilyn Calloway (Rochester, Ind./Rochester Community), Kate Guderjan (Frankfort, Ill./Lincolnway East), Katie Melzer (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville), and Louisa Wilson (Williamsville, Ill./Williamsville), all of whom earned individual All-Academic recognition. Lewis posted a team GPA of 3.50 on the women's side, surpassing the USTFCCCA team qualification standard.
On the men's side, Gabriel Cates (Purcellville, Vir./Loudoun Valley), Zack Dunn (Merrilville, Ind./Merrilville), Brendon Shea (Hershey, Pa./Hershey), and Owen Thomas (Valparaiso, IN/Morgan Township) earned All-Academic honors for their academic and athletic achievements. The men's team finished the academic year with a 3.37 cumulative GPA, securing All-Academic Team recognition as well.
USTFCCCA All-Academic individual honors are awarded to student-athletes who maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale while also finishing in the top 25 at the NCAA Regional Championships or earning All-American honors at the NCAA Championships. Teams must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to be recognized as All-Academic by the USTFCCCA.
