Indianapolis, Ind. – Four members of the Lewis University women's lacrosse team earned All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors as
Jade McKinnon (Coquitlam, BC, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) and
Alexis Riley (Viola, Del./Caesar Rodney High School) were tabbed to the second team while
Eliana Cappellini (Burnaby, BC, Canada/Burnaby North Secondary School) and
Devyn Hartley (Coquitlam, BC, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) each collected honorable mention accolades.
McKinnon recorded 34 goals, 12 assists and 46 points, while on the defensive end she recovered 17 ground balls and 18 draw controls. McKinnon notched a season-high five goals on March 6 at Walsh to lead the Flyers to their road win.. Her season-high in assists was four against William Jewell on Senior Day. McKinnon's 34 goals were the highest in the team during the season and ranked 10th in the GLVC as well. McKinnon also ended the year with an average of 3.83 points per game, good for 10th in the conference. On the defensive side of the ball, the Coqutilam, BC, Canada, native was third in the GLVC in caused turnovers per game with an average of 1.67.
Riley landed her first All-GLVC conference nod after being an impactful defender for the Flyers this season. She recovered 34 ground balls and tallied five games with three-or-more ground balls secured, including four in the season-finale at Missouri Western. The freshman defender ended the regular season ranked seventh in the conference for total ground balls and tied for eighth in ground balls per game (2.13).
Cappellini's efficient performances across both ends landed her an honorable All-GLVC mention after recording 31 points that came from 24 goals and seven assists. On the defensive end, she recovered 26 ground balls and won 22 draw controls. Her season high in goals and points both came on March 20th at Tusculum University, with four goals and a total five points recorded.
The fourth and final Flyer from the women's lacrosse team was Hartley, a sophomore who received All-GLVC honorable mention after contributing on the defensive end with 30 ground balls recovered and eight draw controls won. Her 30 ground balls recovered were the second highest of the other Flyers that received All-GLVC mentions. The sophomore defender ended her 2026 campaign with a season-high three caused turnovers against Missouri Western this past weekend. Overall, Hartley and Riley were each tied for sixth in the GLVC for total caused turnovers with 22 at the end of the regular season.
Additionally, Samantha Sandefur was named the recipient of the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award. James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Awards are given each year to the institutions and student-athletes who actively demonstrate exemplary sportsmanship, character, and conduct during competition throughout the year. The James R. Spalding Individual Sportsmanship Award winners are selected from each institution's season-long list of nominees compiled by each sport's head coaches.
