2003: Academic All-GLVC and a Deans[apos] List student both semesters ... second on the team in strikeouts (43), batters struck out looking (15) and strikeouts-to-walks ratio (2.39:1) ... third in innings (67), fewest walks per nine innings (2.42) and complete games (two) ... fourth in ERA (4.43), starts (seven) and strikeouts per nine innings (5.78) ... fifth in fewest hits per nine innings (10.75), lowest percentage of hits allowed for extra bases (27.5) and relief appearances (seven) ... only two of 11 inherited runners scored in his seven relief stints ... collected his first collegiate win in a 2-1 victory over Quincy, pitching 8 2/3 shutout innings in relief, allowing just four hits and one walk, and fanning six ... tied his collegiate career high of eight strikeouts (5 2/3 innings of relief) vs. Wisconsin-Parkside, getting a no-decision in a game Lewis won 5-4 ... had tough-luck losses of 3-2 vs. Northern Kentucky (7 1/3 innings, two earned runs) and 1-0 to Southern Illinois Edwardsville (seven innings, no earned runs, six hits, one walk) in successive starts ... had another quality start vs. Saint Joseph[apos]s, pitching six innings and yielding just two runs and four hits ... made seven appearances (two starts) in GLVC games, posting a 1-1 record and 1.97 ERA ... allowed only eight total runs (seven earned) in league games ... in 32 innings, struck out 24 and allowed just eight walks and 26 hits ... conference opponents hit just .224 against him.
2002: A Deans[apos] List student both semesters ... second on the team in fewest walks per nine innings (2.63) and strikeouts-to-walks ratio (2.50:1) ... third in strikeouts per nine innings (6.59) ... struck out a season-high four in 2 2/3 innings vs. St. Xavier ... tossed two innings of one-hit scoreless relief in Flyers[apos] win over Molloy ... retired all five batters he faced as Lewis beat Trinity Christian ... made one GLVC appearance.
2001: Led the team in fewest walks per nine innings (2.55) and strikeouts-to-walks ratio (2.40:1) ... second on the team in appearances (16), relief appearances (11) and strikeouts per nine innings (6.11) ... tied for fourth in strikeouts (36) ... fifth in ERA (4.08), innings (53), lowest opponents[apos] batting average (.280) and hits per nine innings (10.70) ... in a six-inning start vs. West Chester, allowed no earned runs, four hits and two walks while striking out eight ... fanned seven in 8 1/3 innings vs. St. Xavier ... tough-luck loser vs. Wisconsin-Parkside, pitching five innings as the starter with no earned runs, one walk and four strikeouts ... pitched 6 1/3 innings in relief in another game vs. Wisconsin-Parkside and allowed just one run, three hits and one walk ... in GLVC play, made six appearances (two starts) and was 0-1 with a 4.03 ERA.
High School: Earned two varsity letters as a pitcher ... was all-conference, Joliet Herald News all-area and a member of the Chicagoland Area Coaches Team as a senior, when he was 10-3 with a 1.15 ERA, 86 strikeouts and a .193 opponents[apos] batting average ... Minooka was 26-11 and the conference champion that season ... selected to the conference all-junior team and helped lead Minooka to the league title his junior season ... also played basketball and golf ... four-year recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award ... made the honor roll all eight semesters.
Personal: Son of Tom and Kathy Tanton ... carries a double major of broadcast journalism and print journalism.
