Biography

Courtney Davis was promoted to the position of Academic Advisor - Athletics Specialist in December 2007. Her responsibilities include tracking the progress toward degree for all student-athletes, maintaining academic progress reports and serving as an academic advocate for all student-athletes. She also serves as the academic advisor to undecided student-athletes. Davis worked in the admission office from August 2005 to December 2007. There she counseled students through the admission and financial aid processes and advised incoming students in a variety of majors. During that time she worked with a team to develop the Overnight Visit Program and the Summer Preview Program to provide prospective students different opportunities to experience Lewis. She is a member of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) and recently completed the course [quote]Academic Success and the Student-Athlete[quote] which was co-sponsored by NACADA and the NCAA. She also attended a professional development event entitled [quote]Advising Student-Athletes: A Model for Success[quote] sponsored by NACADA. She is a distinguished Member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). Davis also serves as a First Year Mentor and an adjunct instructor in the Communication department. Davis holds a master[apos]s in communication and bachelor[apos]s degree in mass communications from Illinois State University.
