Biography

The 2010-11 academic year is Derrick Sloboda[apos]s fourth year as Lewis[apos] assistant sports information director. Sloboda is responsible for all news releases, publications and statistics for nine of Lewis[apos] 18 sports. In 2010 he provided support for seven television broadcasts featuring four different sports on Lakeshore Public Television. Sloboda was hired by the league to assist at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Tournament in 2010. His swimming and men[apos]s soccer media guide covers were named the best in the nation by CoSIDA while his women[apos]s basketball media guide took fourth in the country. Sloboda assisted with the coordination of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Tournament hosted by Lewis in 2008 and 2009. He helped at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Tournaments in 2008 and 2009. He was recognized as the 2008-09 NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region honoree for the American Volleyball Coaches[apos] Association (AVCA) Grant Burger Media Award. Before arriving at Lewis Sloboda spent two seasons as the Coordinator of Workers[apos] Compensation for the arenafootball2 league. Sloboda also spent two seasons as a media intern with af2, working ArenaCup championship games in Shreveport, La. and San Juan, P.R. He also wrote an original column focusing on game entertainment for oursportscentral.com. Sloboda spent five seasons working on game days for the Chicago Rush Arena Football League team. Sloboda graduated from Indiana University in 2005 with a bachelor[apos]s degree in sports management and a minor in business.
