Biography

2012 Highlights: Named to MIVA All-Academic team...named MIVA Defensive Player of the Week on Jan. 30 and Feb. 13...played in 29 matches as starting libero for most of the season...had 16 digs vs. Loyola (Feb. 11)...added 14 digs vs. Cal Baptist (March 9)...notched 11 digs vs. St. Francis (Jan. 27) and in the MIVA Championship at Ohio State (April 28)...finished with nine digs at Hawaii (Jan 13), vs. George Mason (Jan. 28)...at Long Beach State (March 10) and vs. Loyola in the MIVA Semifinals (April 25)...totaled eight digs at Ohio State (March 31), vs. Grand Canyon (April 14) and at USC in the National Semifinals (May 3).

Prior to Lewis (at Moorpark CC): Helped Moorpark Community College win the California junior college championship in 2010...named Second Team All-Western State Conference...in 2011 led the state in digs per set and was named First Team All-Western State.

Prep/Personal: In high school, helped Oak Park to the program’s first appearances in the state playoffs in 2009 and was named Tri-Valley League MVP and First Team All-CIF...son of Lewis and Jeanne Varney...sport management major.
