ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis baseball team saw their 2015 season come to an end on Saturday (May 2) with a pair of losses to Indianapolis at Brennan Field. The Flyers fell in game one 14-7 and game two 6-1.
Saturday was Senior Day for Lewis.

Jared Pyatt (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) and
Kyle Klosak (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) were honored in a pre-game ceremony.

Austin Mastela (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) hit his ninth home run of the season in the fifth on a three-run shot to left field. Junior
Cale Robinson (Weldon, Ill./Clinton) got in on the act in the following inning. His two-run home run, his third of the season, went to center field.
It wasn't enough as the Greyhounds put five on the board in the third and four in the fourth to take control of the game.
Jake Sprinkle (8-1) threw five innings for Indianapolis. Lewis freshman
Ryan Fox (Dayton, Ohio/Centerville) (5-5) allowed 10 runs (four earned) in 3.1 innings.

Neal Tyrell (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) and junior
Brandon Collins (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln Way North) each had two hits for the Flyers.
Game Two – Indianapolis 6, Lewis 1 (HTML Box / PDF Box)Indianapolis grabbed a 4-1 lead thanks to two runs in each of the first two innings.
Lewis scored their lone run of the game in the first. Senior
Tom Helwich (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way Central) singled to start the game. It was his first hit since May 13, 2011 vs. Southern Indiana. Helwich as a freshman in 2011 played the field on days when he didn't pitch. Freshman
Sam Cybulski (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Lyons Township) came in as a pinch runner. He scored on an RBI single by junior
Kurt Becker (Palatine, Ill./Palatine).
The two clubs put up zeros through most of the middle innings, but Lewis had some chances. The Flyers left runners on in the 4-7 innings. It was the final rally in the seventh that chased Indianapolis starter Connor Mailloux. Dylan Stutsman entered and earned two outs on six pitches to strand Flyers at first and second.
Stutsman finished the game for his second save of the year. Mailloux's record improves to 4-4 with the win in 6.1 innings of work. Lewis Freshman
Dalton Hottle (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) gave up four runs in 5.1 innings. The loss drops his mark to 1-4.
Becker finished the game with two hits, including a triple in the fourth inning.
Indianapolis improves to 32-17, 26-10 GLVC. The Flyers conclude the 2015 campaign 21-26 (15-21 GLVC).
