2016 Highlights: Recipient of the Br. David Delahanty Award - given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence - and named to Academic All-GLVC Team…recipient of the Divison 2 ADA Academic Achievement Award...named to the All-GLVC second team…averaged .315 at the plate with a .452 slugging percentage…went 2-for-3 with a homer, double and walk in a win against Alderson Broaddus (March 20)…brought in two RBI off first triple of the season against Saint Joseph’s (April 17)...recorded three runs with a homer at McKendree (April 30).
2015 Highlights: Recipient of the Br. David Delahanty Award - given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence - and named to Academic All-GLVC Team…started in 46 games in the outfield for the Flyers…led the team in RBI (35) home runs (9), slugging percentage (.541), and total bases (92)…was second for the Flyers with 52 hits…went four-for-nine with back-to-back jacks against Drury (March 16)…knocked in three runs with a home run against Indianapolis (May 2).
2014 Highlights: Recipient of the Br. David Delahanty Award - given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence - and named to Academic All-GLVC Team...named All-GLVC First Team…played in 41 games with 40 starts (22 in right field, 15 as designated hitter and three in centerfield)…finished a triple short of the cycle at McKendree with three RBI (April 26)…smacked a three-run home run vs. Grand Valley State (March 3)…recorded four hits, three RBI and a run scored vs. UIS (April 11)…homered and singled twice vs. Wayne State (March 7)…singled twice, knocked in two runs and scored once vs. Saint Joseph’s (March 31).
2013 Highlights: Named Academic All-GLVC and Delahanty Award honoree…Appeared in 10 games with two starts in right field…picked up his first collegiate hit against Wheeling Jesuit (March 3)…collected his first RBI against Illinois-Springfield (March 23).
High School/Personal: Helped the Lockport High baseball team to three consecutive conference titles … named All-Conference as a senior, as he batted .378, with 45 RBI, six home runs, and slugged .778 … four-year honor roll student … also a member of the Lockport High Diving team … son of Caren and Michael Mastela …Marketing major.
