An outstanding all-around performer, Beth Gadaleta was one of the top players for the Lewis volleyball team during one of the most successful periods in Flyer history.
Gadaleta helped spark the Flyers to a 23-9 record her sophomore season. She garnered All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors and was the Lewis Invitational Most Valuable Player that year, averaging 3.21 kills per game and recording a team-high 142 digs.
The Flyers posted a 31-9 record and were the GLVC runners-up in each of the following two seasons thanks in large part to Gadaleta’s excellent play. She led the team in hitting percentage (.277) and digs (262) and had a 3.06 kills-per-game average and 52 service aces as a junior, numbers that earned her a spot on the All-GLVC team and Lewis co-MVP recognition.
Gadaleta was even better the following season, serving as team captain and helping lead the Flyers to an NCAA Division II Championship bid. She hit .287 and achieved team highs of 446 kills, 241 digs and 76 service aces on her way to a third All-GLVC honor, a place on the all-region team and Lewis MVP accolades.
Lewis registered an 85-27 combined record in Gadaleta’s final three seasons. That translates to a .759 winning percentage, the third highest success rate for a three-year period in Flyer history, as of 2002.
