Michael Van Mill was a member of the Lewis baseball team from 1984-87. He played a major role in the program's success during that period, as the Flyers won the 1985, 1986, and 1987 Great Lakes Valley Conference titles, earned an NCAA Division II regional tournament bid all four years and produced 162 victories.
In 1986, Van Mill was voted to the NCAA Division II All-American second team after hitting .404 with 68 runs batted in. A starter and All-GLVC selection in each of his four seasons, he played in all of Lewis' 267 games during his career and was captain of the 1987 team.
Van Mill appears on all but one of the Flyers' career offensive statistical lists. He is tied for first in home runs (46), third in runs batted in (201), fourth in at-bats (792), tied for fourth in doubles (56), seventh in hits (275), 12th in runs (175), 29th in stolen bases (41), 33rd in batting average (.347) and tied for 35th in triples (six).
