Richard Baranak

Richard Baranak was a catcher for the Flyers from 1972-76.  Baranak has the distinction of being the starting catcher all four years that he participated.  He was a member of the 1974, 1975 and 1976 National Baseball Champions.  He was also voted to the All-Tournament Team all three years.  Baranak also was voted to the All-American Baseball Team in 1975 and 1976.
 
In 1976, Baranak served as captain of the baseball team, and was voted the Most Valuable Player Award by his teammates.  Baranak currently holds the record for most career doubles (48) and ranks fourth on the all-time runs batted in list (145).
 
Baranak is employed by the Colonial Baking Company in Joliet.  He is the head baseball coach at St. Mary Magdeline School.  He is married and the father of three children.
