Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Lewis University since 1983, Michael Waters is being recognized for his leadership and commitment in the renewal of the Lewis campus and for his special role in the construction of the new Student Fitness and Recreation Center, the new soccer and track complex and the renovation of the JFK Sports Center.
He is president of Michael F. Waters & Associates, a legislative consulting firm representing such clients as insurance companies, HMO's, oil corporations and other companies in Illinois and Washington, D.C.
A graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law, Waters earned his bachelor's degree at St. Mary's College (now University) in Minnesota. Prior to establishing his own company, Waters was assistant general counsel of the National Association of Independent Insurers. During his career, he has been Special Assistant to the Director of Personnel for the State of Illinois, Legal Advisor to the Illinois Senate and Chief Counsel to the Illinois Department of Insurance.
Waters has served on the Advisory Board for the Christian Brothers of Illinois and received the Lasallian and Signum Fidei Awards from the Christian Brothers of Chicago Province. He is a member of the Mike Ditka Foundation Board. He has been a member of the Board of Trustees at Lewis University since 1980.
