Joe Wright was a member of the track & field team from 1961-1965. He holds the distinction of being the captain of the original track & field team (1962). Wright was also captain of the 1963, 1964 and 1965 teams.
Considered a jack-of-all-trades in track & field, Wright competed in ten different events during his four year career. He held Lewis records in six of those ten events during his career.
Joe Wright scored over one hundred meet points every season during his four year career, the only competitor ever to accomplish this goal.
Joe and his wife, Maureen, are the parents of three children. He is Vice-President of human resources for the Federal Signal Corporation. He and his family live in Glenwood, Illinois.
