Hall of Fame
Matt Connor played guard for the football team from 1952-1954. After competing for Joliet Junior College, where he was Captain and First Team All-Conference in 1951, Connor transferred to Lewis. The 1951 team posted a 7-1-0 record, won the Midlands Conference and went on to post a victory in the Corn Bowl. The 1953 team also won the Midlands Conference. Connor was voted All Conference in 1953. He was captain of the 1954 team.
Upon graduation from Lewis, Connor entered the United States Marine Corps, where his 1956 Camp Pendleton team won the West Coast Championship.
Connor was Varsity Line Coach at Lemont High School from 1966-1973. In 1973, he was named head coach and guided Lemont to two conference championships in a five-year period.
Connor currently is Division Chairman of Vocational Education at Lemont High School.
He is married and the father of four children. He also has one grandchild.
