One of the most prolific run-producers in Lewis baseball history, Brian Gibbons earned an abundance of awards during his four-year Flyer career.
Gibbons garnered NCAA Division II All-American first-team honors as a senior in 1996 and was an All-American second-team choice his junior year. He was named to the All-North Central Region first team, All-North Central Regional Tournament team and All-GLVC first team both years and was an All-GLVC Tournament choice as a senior.
Gibbon helped lead the 1996 Flyers to a 46-16 record and runner-up spots in the GLVC and NCAA Division II North Central Regional; he hit .402 with team highs of 16 home runs, seven triples and 26 stolen bases and added 75 RBI, 73 runs, 19 doubles and six assits from center field. Lewis was 38-22 and finished second in the region in 1995 as Gibbons hit a GLVC-best 17 homers, led the team with 68 RBI, 35 walks, 62 runs, four triples, a .668 slugging percentage and five sacrifice flies, and produced a .359 batting average and seven assists.
As a sophomore, Gibbons hit .359 with 13 homers and 53 RBI and was named North Central Regional Outstanding Player, All-North Central Region second team and All-GLVC second team. Lewis was 47-17-1, won the GLVC title and placed third in the nation that season.
Gibbons is tied for first on Lewis' career home runs list (46) and holds other top-10 career rankings in RBI (199, fourth), triples (12, tied for fourth), hits (261, eighth), runs (192, eighth) and hit-by-pitch (18, tied for eighth). He is 14th in batting average (.374) and at-bats (697), tied for 16th in doubles (40) abd tied for 21st in stolen bases (51). The Flyers were 160-79-1 (.669) during his career.
