Julie Fruendt played basketball for the Flyers from 1981-1985 and quickly established herself as one of the finest players in Lady Flyer history.
 
Fruendt ended her career as the all-time leading scorer in Lady Flyers basketball history with 1,716 points.  Other Lady Flyer career records held by Fruendt include field goals made (706), field goals attempted (1,433), free throws made (304), free throws attempted (441), most rebounds (1043) and most blocked shots (215).
 
In her final two seasons, Fruendt led the Lady Flyers in scoring with an 18.3 average as a junior and a 21.3 average as senior.  Her junior and senior performances helped the Lady Flyers advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament after gaining Great Lakes Valley Conference titles both years.
 
As a senior in 1985, she was GLVC Player of the Year and became the first Lady Flyer to earn First Team NCAA Division II All-American honors.
 
After graduation, Fruendt played professional basketball in Belgium one year and Ireland two years.  She was named Player of the Year in Ireland during the 1988-89 season.
 
Julie lives with her parents in St. Anne, Illinois, and is currently employed as a co-plant manager of the St. Anne Fertilizer Company, Incorporated.  She coaches the junior varsity girls’ basketball team at Momence (IL) High School.
