Jack Schimanski

    Schimanski pitched for the Flyers and went on to a successful career as varsity baseball coach at Joliet Catholic High School. He posted a 9-1 pitching record as a senior in 1972 to help lead the Flyers to a 46-12 record, the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference title and a second consecutive trip to the NAIA national tournament in Phoenix, Arizona, where the Flyers finished sixth. He was also a member of Lewis' 1971 CCAC championship club which had a 43-24 mark and placed third in the nation.
    Schimanski served as a Flyer assistant coach in 1977-78 and again in 1990, the latter stint during his six-year tenure as the University's director of Development. The 1977 team had a 50-19 record and placed fourth in the NAIA national tournament, and the 1990 squad was 49-14 and finished third in the NCAA Division II championship tourney. 
    Jack was head baseball coach at Joliet Catholic High School from 1979-1988. During that time his team's record was 323-101. His 1982 team won 53 games, a record that still stands. He won conference baseball championships in 1980, 81, 82 and 88. His 1980, 81 and 88 teams were IHSA state finalists. His team won the 1983 summer state baseball championship. Jack was named IHSA Coach of the Year in 1981 and 1988.
