Mary played basketball for the Flyers from 1980-1983. After transferring from Loyola University, Mary established herself as one of the finest players ever in Lady Flyer history. She holds records in every single individual career record category. She ranks second in career scoring (1563 points), third in season average (18.3 ppg), eighth in field goal percentage (.481), first in free throw percentage (.795), third in rebounding (7.8 rpg), and fifth in assists (2.5 apg). Mary also holds single season records in most points scored (604), most field goals attempted (513), most free throws made (122), most free throws attempted (154) and highest free throw percentage (1.000). She led her team in scoring all three years that she played.
Mary was co-captain of the 1981-1982 and 1982-1983 teams and was voted Most Valuable Player in 1981, 1982 and 1983. She was also named to the All-State Team in 1982 and 1983, and to the All-Region Team in 1983.
Niego McNamara was named to the Dean’s List of Honor Students for six straight semesters while attending Lewis.
Upon graduation from Lewis, Mary attended John Marshall Law School. She graduated and passed the bar exam in July of 1987. Mary is employed as judicial clerk in Chicago.
