Jaime Garcia attended Lewis from 1969-1973. He graduated with honors and was hired as a teacher and coach for Providence Catholic High School in New Lenox, Illinois.
Garcia began his coaching career at Providence as an assistant baseball coach, basketball and football coach (1973-1977). Then, in 1977, he was named Providence’s head baseball coach.
In 12 years as Providence’s baseball coach Garcia compiled a 397-126 career record. Overall, his teams won nine conference championships, seven IHSA Regional titles, four IHSA Sectional titles and IHSA Class A State title in 1978 and 1982.
Garcia has held several teaching and administrative positions at Providence Catholic, including Chairman of the Language Department, Assistant Athletic Director, Assistant Dean, Spanish teach and member of the Administrative Board.
In 1985, he was named Providence’s Director of Development. A panelist at numerous baseball clinics in the Midwest, Garcia was appointed to the United States Baseball Federation Overseas Clinical Pool in 1985. Since then, he has lectured extensively on baseball in Guatemala, Chile, Honduras, Peru and Spain.
In 1988, he was appointed as a minor league pitching instructor by the Chicago White Sox on a part-time basis. Then in 1989, he was appointed the same position on a full-time basis. He will work with the Chicago White Sox minor league team in Sarasota, FL.
Jaime is single and lives in New Lenon, IL.
