Gordon Davis has served on the Lewis University Golf Outing Committee for 19 years, unselfishly giving considerable time and effort to help that event flourish.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration at Lewis in 1965, Davis worked as a social studies teacher, coach, and athletic director at Joliet's St.Paul the Apostle St. Paul, posting a siz-year record of 122-70 and winning numerous tournaments, and he coached the Lockport High School summer-league basketball team from 1978-82. In 1969, Davis was nominated for Outstanding Young Educator in Will County.
Davis also was involved in youth baseball, coaching at Joliet's Goltz Park from 1966-72 and 1981-86 and at Rivals Park Little League in 1979 and 1980. His team won the 1982 and 1983 Goltz Park championships.
Davis worked at Chicago Title Insurance Company while attending Lewis, and he returned to the company in 1971 as tract book manager. In 1984 he became Chicago Title's resident vice president/Will County manager, a position he currently occupies.
An active participant in civic affairs, Davis served on the Joliet Downtown Development Committee from 1972-80 and on the Joliet Township Hish School Advisory Board from 1982-92, and was a Captain on the Saint Joseph Medical Center Foundation Committee in 1991 and 1992. A member of the Joliet Noon Lions Club since 1972, he received the 1974 Lion of the Year Award and was named 1990 Melvin Jones Fellow by Lions International.
Davis was named 1990 Will/Grundy Counties Volunteer of the Year by the Illinois State Board of Education; 1990 Will County Association of Realtors Affiliate of the Year; and 1985 Will/Grundy Counties Home Builders Association Associate of the Year. He and wife Joyce live in Joliet and have a son, Shawn.
