Randy Russ played baseball at Lewis from 1987-1990. During his first two years, Randy was on JV before working his way up to varsity during his final two seasons.  

Randy helped lead the team to two GLVC Titles in 1987 and 1990 while also being a First Team All-American shortshop in 1990 where he hit .408, recorded 108 hits, 16 doubles, three triples and nine homers. Randy also scored 102 runs while knocking home 65 runs.  

Randy won GLVC Player of the Year in 1990 after his standout performance at the plate. Randy tied a school record six consecutive hits in a game against Southern Indiaan in 1990. During his time with Lewis, the Flyers were in the NCAA Division II World Series in 1987, 1988 (3rd place), 1989 (5th place) and 1990 (3rd place).  

In the 1989 NCAA Division II World Series, Randy helped a Lewis rally in the opener in come from behind victory against Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo where he scored the tying run in the seventh inning while his brother Bobby recorded the victory. Randy currently lives in Edison Park with his family.
