Arriving at Lewis in 1976, Tuscany is credited with successfully developing the school's athletic training program and, in fact, building its athletic training facility. While at Lewis, he held various roles, including head athletic trainer, instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, and equipment manager. He was chairman of the Physical Education Department from 1981-1986 and started the P.E. Teaching Minor in 1981. Tuscany also helped initiate an Emergency Medical Training Program at Lewis.
In 1986, Tuscany moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan, where he served as Assistant Athletic Trainer at Eastern Michigan University. Tuscany did research on rotator cuff surgery and base sliding injuries. He was interviewed on the "Today" Show by host Joe Garagiola about the use of break away bases.
