Terry Niego played Lady Flyer basketball from 1981-1985, following in the footsteps of older sister, Mary (1988 Hall of Fame inductee).  She had an immediate positive impact on the Lady Flyers’ success as a four-year starter and set a Lewis record for games played in her career (122).

Niego ranks third on the Lady Flyer all-time scoring list with 1,465 points while ranking third in assists (407) and fifth in rebounds (464).

Along with 1990 Hall of Fame inductee Julie Fruendt, Niego helped the Lady Flyers advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament and win the Great Lakes Valley Conference title in her final season (1983-1984).  As a 1984 All-GLVC selection, she helped the Lady Flyers to a 21-8 record.

As honor student at Lewis, Niego was selected to the Dean’s List and was listed in Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.  She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Education and will complete her Master’s Degree in Business Administration at Illinois Institute of Technology this spring.

Niego currently lives in Chicago and is employed by the Chicago Board of Education as an eighth grade teacher.
