Huisman and Ernie Young led the Flyers to three consecutive NCAA World Series appearances in 1988, '89, and '90. The combined baseball record for those three years was an outstanding 137-56. Lewis finished third in the nation in 1988 and 1990 and fifth in 1989.
Although he only competed for the Flyers three years as a Flyer, Huisman holds records for single season wins (13) and single season strikeouts (168), ranking fifth in all time career victories (30). He led all NCAA Division II teams in strikeouts in 1990.
Huisman was voted to the GLVC All Conference teams in 1988, 1989, and 1990. In 1990, he was selected to the NCAA All American team. After being drafted in 1990, Rick spent five years in the minor leagues with the San Francisco Giants and the Houston Astros. He spent parts of the 1995, '96, and '97 seasons in the major leagues with the Kansas City Royals. He spent the 1998 season in Triple A with the San Francisco Giants.
