Callahan was the first of many great Lewis centers Coach Gillespie guided. Callahan earned the Most Value Player honors three consecutive seasons, 1952-53, 1953-54, and 1954-55. Callahan had three seasons of 300 or more points, and ended his career as a member of the 1000-point club and a 13.5 points per game average.
Graduation didn’t stop Callahan’s basketball days, he coached basketball at Lewis and St. Joseph’s (Westchester, IL) High School. Callahan is now in private business and lives with his family in La Grange Park, IL.
