Michael Manderino

Mike Manderino played baseball and basketball for the Flyers from 1970-1974.  Manderino holds the all-time record for most hits in a single game (6).  He ranks in the top 10 category in career runs scored (190), career total hits (223), career runs batted in (93), career triples (11) and career doubles (31).  Manderino played in the 1971 and 1972 NAIA National Championships.  In 1974 he finished his career by playing on Lewis’ first NAIA National Championship Baseball Team.
 
Mike was the starting point guard on the 1972, 1973 and 1974 basketball team.  He is considered one of the finest point guards in Lewis basketball history and in one game handed out 15 assists.  He was voted Defensive Player of the Year in 1973 and 1974.  Manderino’s ball handling ability is unexcelled in Lewis basketball history.
 
He signed with the Cleveland Indians in 1974 and spent two years in their minor league system.  He played with an independent minor league team until 1978.
 
Mike has taught and coached baseball and basketball for the past twelve years at St. Martin de Porres (formerly Mendal Catholic) High School.
 
He was voted Catholic League Baseball Coach of the Year in 1985.
 
He and his wife Debbie are the parents of a son, Joey, and reside in Calumet City, Illinois.
