Hall of Fame
Inducted posthumously. Lettered four years in football and captained the great 1949 and 1951 teams. The 1949 team posted an 8-0-0 record and won the Badger-Illini Conference while the 1951 team went 7-1-0, won the Midlands Conference Title and went on to post a victory in the 5th Corn Bowl. Farinella twice earned Little All-America honors at guard and was drafted by the Green Bay Packers.
Farinella opted to get married and go to work back home on Chicago’s north side. Two years after graduation a tragic swimming accident took his life. The Sportsmanship Trophy at Lewis is named in his honor.
