    Carey Jewell thrilled Lewis University women's basketball fans with her explosove scoring ability and cat-like defensive quickness. Carey is the Flyers' No.2 career scorer with 1,850 points, finishing just four points behind Krista Eshoo. Her 17.0 career scoring averiage is third best on the Lewis chart, and shestands No. 3 in career assists (423) and No. 6 in career free throw percentage (.788).
    Carey is the only Lewis women's basketball player -  and one of only two Lewis basketball players, male or female, joining Larry Tucker - to lead the team in scoring each of her four seasons. Her 19.4 scoring average in her senior year ranks fifth in Flyer women's history.
    Carey holds Lewis career records for 3-pointers made (271) and attempted (737), free throws made (431) and attempted (547), and steals (320); Flyer season marks for free throws made (126) and steals (96); team single-game records for points (40, tied), free throws made (15) and free throw attempts (21); and teh school record of 25 consecutive free throws made. She also holds GLVC career records (includes GLVC games only) for 3-pointers made (214) and attempted (598), and she coowns the league record for nine 3-pointers made in a game.
    In her sophomore season, Carey led the Flyers to a school-record 23 wins (23-5), a tie for second place in the GLVC and an NCAA Division II Championship invitation. She was named to the Daktronics all-region first team and All-GLVC first team and was Lewis' Most Valuable Player that season. The 23-5 mark was part of an outstanding 73-36 record (.670) the Flyers posted during the Jewell years.
    Carey was All-GLVC honorable mention as a freshman; Daktronics all-region second team, All-GLVC second team and Lewis MVP as a junior; and All-GLVC first team and Lewis MVP as a senior, when she led the Flyers to a GLVC second-place tie. She also earned four GLVC Player of the Week awards.
