Anna Speck Wiest played softball for the Flyers from 1986 to 1989. She was a power pitcher who dominated opposing hitters during her four-year career.
When Wiest was named to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference first team and GLVC Freshman of the Year in 1986, it was a sign of great things to come. She earned GLVC Player of the Year recognition and was All-GLVC first-team selection in 1988. In 1989, she made the all-conference first team for the third time and was named Lewis’ Most Valuable Player. Anna Speck Wiest was the winning pitcher in the 1987 and 1988 GLVC Championship Finals.
On the Lewis career charts as of 1999, Wiest was second in innings pitched (558 2/3), tied for third in victories (50), fourth in strikeouts (282) and fourth in ERA (1.35).
