Stephen Sobey played soccer for the Flyers from 1976-1980. Steve is the sixth all-time leading scorer in Lewis soccer history. Sobey was leading scorer on the 1977 team. He also was elected to the All-Illinois Team and the All-Mideast Team in that year. During his junior year he was the second leading scorer on the soccer team. In 1979, he was again voted to the All-Illinois and All-Mideast Teams, as well as being named to the first District 20 All-Star Team, where he was named top defender. He was also voted Most Valuable Player by his teammates in 1979. Stephen capped off his senior year by being named to the NAIA All-American Team. He was also captain of the team that year.
Sobey is employed by the Morton Thiokol Company as a senior product consultant.
