    Considered an outstanding talent both offensively and defensively, DeButch was a three time All Great Lakes Valley Baseball Conference selection in years 1982-84. A four year starter in the outfield, DeButch amassed such totals as 828 at bats, 218 runs scored, 278 total hits, 56 doubles, 40 home runs, 192 RBI's and 79 stolen bases, placing him in the top five all time in each category. While at Lewis, DeButch's teams competed in the Division II regional tournament in 1981 and 1984, compiling a record of 164-100 over that four-year period. He was named team's Most Valuable Player in 1982. His combination of power andspeed at the plate, coupled with his fine defensive ability make him one of the outstanding athletes in Lewis' storied baseball history. DeButch has returned to his home town after graduating in Lewis' Criminal/Social Justice program and presently works for the City of Chicago Heights.
