Mike Stevenson played basketball for the Flyers from 1988-1991. He will be remembered as one of the finest players in Lewis baseball history. He is regarded as the best left handed hitter in Lewis baseball history.
A three time NCAA All American (1989, 90, 91), Stevenson rewrote the Flyer record book in offensive categories. Following is a list of his accomplishments. He ranks second in career batting average with a lifetime average of .417. He ranks first in career hits (341). He ranks first in career runs batted in (230). He ranks first in season doubles (30) and in career doubles (80). He ranks 2nd in career runs scored (221). He ranks 9th in career home (33) and 12th in career stolen bases (57).
In 1991 he was named NCAA Divsion II Baseball Player of the Year, the only Lewis player ever to receive that honor.
Mike led his team to three consecutive NCAA Division II National Baseball World Series appearances in 1988, 89 and 90. The Flyers finsihed 3rd in two of those appearances and fifth in the other.
Mike was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 1991. He led the newly founded Will County Cheetahs in all offensive categories.
