Jamie Martin, who stands 24th on the Lewis men’s basketball career scoring list with 1,090 points, was a vital part of the Lewis basketball program during one of the most successful four-year periods in Flyer history.
A three-year starter, Martin helped lead Lewis to the NCAA Division II tournament and the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship in his freshman and junior seasons. The Flyers won a school-record 25 games (25-5) his freshman year and followed with records of 20-8, 22-8 and 19-9 for a four year total of 86-30 (.741).
Martin enjoyed a special senior year athletically and academically. In addition to earning a spot on the All-GLVC and All-Great Lakes Region first teams and leading the Flyers in scoring (17.9) and rebounding (7.7), he earned his third Academic All-GLVC honor and became Lewis’ first selection to the GTE Academic All-America first team and first NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient.
