Chris Borden was a member of Lewis University’s first men’s volleyball team in 1994 and was a key element of the 1996 Flyer team that made the program’s first NCAA Championship appearance.
Borden played three seasons at Lewis (1994-96) and helped lead the Flyers to a combined 79-29 record (.731). The Orangeville, Ontario, native was selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America second team and the Volleyball Magazine All-America third team in 1996 after helping propel the Flyers to a 31-5 record, the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) championship, an NCAA Championship berth and the No. 7 national ranking.
A middle hitter, Borden was named All-MIVA in 1995 (second team) and 1996 (first team) and was an All-MIVA Tournament choice in those seasons. As of 2003, he holds Lewis records for career hitting percentage (.458) and block solos in a match (eight vs. Quincy, 1995).
