Erin Murphy Lorenz played volleyball for the Flyers form 1976-1979. After transferring from then powerhouse George Williams College, Erin helped establish Lewis University as the team of the 1970’s. During Murphy-Lorenz’s three years, the overall team record was 101-34.
Her 1978 team won its first-ever AIAW State Championship. Erin led the Flyers to their first National Tournament appearance in the same year where they finished sixth in the nation.
Murphy Lorenz was captain of the team in 1978 and 1979.
Upon graduation, Murphy Lorenz was named Head Volleyball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at St. Mary’s College (Notre Dame, Indiana). In 1981, she was named Athletic Director.
Erin earned her Master’s Degree in Education in 1985. She has taught at the Michiana College of Commerce in South Bend, Indiana. She is presently employed as an instructor at the Tyler Business College, Chicago, Illinois.
Erin is married and lives in Chicago with her husband, Joe, and two children, Elyse and John.
