James Alessio

Jim Alessio played baseball for the Flyers from 1971-1975.  During those four years Jim established himself as one of the finest shortstops in Flyer history.  He was a member of the 1974 and 1975 National Baseball Champions.
 
Alessio was captain of the 1975 team.  In the same year he was voted the team’s Most Valuable Player as well as earning All-American honors.  Alessio’s name appears in every offensive category in the Flyer baseball record book.  Jim also sports a .323 lifetime batting average.  Alessio was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1975, and led the Gulf Coast League in hitting during his first full professional season.
 
Jim gave baseball up in 1976 in to order to join a family business where he is employed at the present time.  Jim and his wife, Mary Sue, are the parents of three children.
