Joe Zdziarki was one of the pioneers of the Lewis men's soccer program, playing for the Flyers from 197-73. As a sophomore in 1971, he earned all-district honors and helped lead Lewis to an 8-4-2 record, the program;s first winning season. The Flyers posted a 14-2-1 record in Zdziarski's senior season of 1973; the .853 winning percentage of that team still stands as the school record.
Zdziarki's 71 career points (27 goals, 17 assists) tie him for eighth on the Lewis all time list. He started every game during his career and served as team captain three years. Zdziarski also played two seasons of junior varsity baseball, hitting .420 and serving as team captain his sophomore year.
Zdziarski played semi-pro soccer in Chicago for six years and later played indoor soccer. After completing work on his bachelor's degree in business administration st Lewis, he earned a Master of Business Administration degree at Northern Illinois University in 1976. A Shorewood resident, he is director of logistics for Johnson & Johnson and has a daughter, Cheryl, and a son, John.
